I’ve loved science fiction since I was a kid. From Star Wars to Severance, I’m captivated by the futures that we conceive, reliant on human imagination, ingenuity, and invention.
These days, it’s easy to feel like we’re living in a science fiction story. We’re in the midst of an enormous change in computing. And we’re at a stage where, finally, AI can become a true teammate.
This shift is profound. It’s exciting. And for a lot of us – myself included – it’s a little scary. Because it’s new. Unknown. Accelerating incredibly fast. And it’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. Which makes it hard to work out: what does it all mean, for all of us?
So, we wondered – what if we showed you? What if we brought you inside DevRev, as we’re building AI in real-time? Could that make it a little less sci-fi? A little less scary? And a bit more human.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new reality series that gives you a front-row seat to see how we’re creating DevRev’s all-new AI teammate, Computer. That’s right, a reality show. And yes, my colleagues looked at me weird when I suggested it. Now, we’re all starring in it.
It’s called The Computer Program, and the pilot is out now.
At DevRev, we’re lucky to spend all day, every day, experimenting with how AI changes the way we work, so that we can help our customers change how their teams work for the better. And we’ve been doing that since 2020.
And five years of intense work on questions like infrastructure, security, ethics, and other hard design problems, we launched Computer, our new AI teammate. It comes with an earned perspective on the challenges and opportunities that AI provides - and a healthy, profound respect for both.
But the more I work with Computer, the more inspired I get.
Computer doesn’t just change the way I work – it changes the way DevRev works. Day by day, we’re entering into our Team Intelligence era: eliminating silos, banishing stupid work, and making collaboration effortless (and more fun).
It isn’t easy. It isn’t linear. It isn’t perfect. That’s kind of the point – and that’s what we hope to share with you through The Computer Program. We’re building this for you. So, yeah, we want you along for the ride
Today, we’re debuting our first episode, about me pitching the first episode (yes, it’s pretty meta). As you’ll see, it all made me pretty uncomfortable.
But AI is uncomfortable right now, and we’re all experiencing that, together. We’re aiming to show how we’re working through that discomfort with Computer, every day, in order to build… well, Computer.
In each episode, you’ll see how we’re using Computer to solve problems, big and small. We’ll introduce you to the people building this technology. And we’ll be transparent about the very human decision-making and collaboration that’s at the heart of all of this: the flaws, the obstacles, and the failures – along with the discoveries, excitement, and achievements.
AI is new for all of us. And it comes with both trepidation and optimism. But with Computer, I’m increasingly excited. It feels less and less like science fiction each day.
