WORK SOFTER SERIES · FOR EVERY COMPUTER USER

Working Softer with Computer

Your practical guide to getting more done with less friction. Real ways teams use Computer every day — and exactly how to start doing the same: 50+ things you can do today, five days to get fluent, one app instead of ten.

OVERVIEW

What is Computer?

Computer is not a generic AI chatbot working in isolation, re-fetching information every time, limited to text, or a replacement for your judgment.

It is a teammate with full enterprise context: multiplayer so AI and humans collaborate, memory-powered through a persistent knowledge graph, action-oriented so it creates, updates and sends, and an amplifier of your own expertise.

ARCHITECTURE

How Computer works

An orchestrating LLM (Claude Sonnet) decides what to search, which skill to use, and how to respond.

A persistent memory and knowledge graph store your data securely with SQL and vector search; the handbook reports this uses 60–80% fewer tokens than pure MCP. Connectors and MCPs — Gmail, Slack, Calendar, Granola, GitHub, Notion, Drive — add real-time retrieval.

Skills are reusable workflows you build conversationally, then schedule, share and combine. Multiplayer sessions add humans so Computer becomes a team member with shared context and shared artifacts.

Time you could get back

Before-and-after timings as reported in the handbook. These are illustrative workflow examples, not guaranteed or independently measured results.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Selected workflows from the handbook

Representative workflows drawn from the handbook’s nine use-case chapters. The full handbook covers the complete set, including People Operations and personal productivity.

01 · MORNING ROUTINES

Morning briefings & alerts

One prompt replaces logging into three tools and scanning 50+ messages: a prioritized summary of what's urgent, who's waiting, and what changed — saveable as a scheduled 8am skill.

02 · SALES & PROSPECTING

Outreach, one-pagers & deal prep

Personalized outreach from a LinkedIn profile, a branded technical one-pager in about 20 minutes without an SE, a deal X-ray skill, and instant call briefs pulled from accounts and past calls.

04 · ENGINEERING & PRODUCT

Sprints, deployments & tests

Sprint retros and status messages from the board, deployment-status skills that answer 'did my fix ship?', English-to-Playwright test generation with self-healing PRs, and first-draft EDDs.

05 · DATA & ANALYTICS

Dashboards & analysis on demand

Describe a dashboard in plain language, analyze any Slack channel for recurring issues, or ask Computer to visualize data — it picks the chart, writes the SQL, and renders an interactive widget.

06 · MULTIPLAYER

AI and humans in one room

Draft collaboratively, add teammates mid-session with automatic catch-up summaries, pressure-test ideas privately in safe mode, and generate one shared report once instead of five times.

08 · CUSTOMER SUCCESS

Triage, responses & live dashboards

Instant triage for a stressed account — top tickets, sentiment, suggested actions — cross-referenced email replies in about 4 minutes, and live customer-facing dashboards you can share directly.

REAL EXAMPLES

How teams use it

An SDR who couldn't get a technical response out fast enough used a multiplayer session to generate a branded one-pager answering every technical question — delivered in 20 minutes instead of waiting days for an SE.

A global team's 4am anxiety routine — two hours of checking email and Slack — became a 5-minute automated morning briefing after connecting Gmail, Slack and Calendar. Elsewhere, 224 event attendees were linked to CRM accounts in seconds via an upload-and-match skill that previously took two weeks.

These are workflows recounted by teams in the handbook; they illustrate how the pieces fit together rather than guaranteeing identical results for every team.
